Conference: Heyrovský Institute Opens Its Door
The Heyrovský Institute of the Czech Academy of Sciences and ERA Chair of Space Chemistry and Technology is pleased to invite representatives of academia, industry, public institutions, and the wider space community to its annual scientific event “Heyrovský Institute Opens Its Door”, which will take place on 22 September 2026 at the Heyrovský Institute in Prague.
This year’s programme will focus on space chemistry and technology, highlighting current research activities and technological developments at the Institute and its departments. The event will present the Institute’s contributions to space chemistry, spectroscopy, space exploration, and related technologies, while also opening a broader discussion on the societal and technological importance of space research.
Space exploration is no longer only a scientific endeavour. It is increasingly connected with technological innovation, industry, environmental monitoring, and questions concerning the future use of outer space. The event will therefore also address the risks and benefits of our participation in the exploration and utilization of space.
The programme has been designed with a strong emphasis on networking and interdisciplinary discussion, bringing together researchers, technology experts, industry representatives, and invited guests.
Programme:
10:00 – Opening Remarks
Martin Hof, Director of the Heyrovský Institute
10:10 – Technologies for Earth and Space Exploration/Observation and the Quest for Life in Space
Bernd Abel, Heyrovský Institute / Leipzig University
10:40 – Space Technologies and Activities from an Industry Perspective
